Reality Writes is the blog loosely about writing and the writing life. Its author may also throw in a few rants, raves or worries somewhat or not so much related to the writing life.

Topics of interest: poetry, MFA Creative Writing, applying to graduate school, freelance writing, poetry on the web, writing resources, books, authors, publishing, reading and the writing community.

Right now, Reality Writes is settled in Charlotte, NC, but the writing life may be on the move.

Hey - First I should offer a very belated thanks for the link to our blog. Second I have an odd question. You live in Charlotte, no? I think I was on your blog a while ago and found a link to a blog about fun things to do in Charlotte. I have a friend who’s little sister is moving there all alone, and I told her I thought such a blog existed, but now I can’t find it. Can you help? If you have no idea what I’m talking about, then nevermind and just take my words that I enjoy perusing your blog and that’s it. Best of luck on the GRE (argh, yuck!)
    Thanks,
    Jen

    Hey Jen,
No problem! I think you may have clicked the link for my other blog that I write for the Charlotte Observer - Girl About Town (http://ucneighbors.blogspot.com). In it, I write about weekly music events and sometimes review other activities around town.
I should say, too, that I’ve long enjoyed Escape to New York. I found your link from Brian H.’s page. I majored in art in undergrad and there’s still a wistful part of me that wants the NYC scene, too.
    Thanks for reading!

    Hey Reality Writes,

Talking to a student sounds like a good idea. I will keep in touch and let you know if I find out more. Good luck hearing from your other programs. I am anxious just to know already!

Hey, I followed you here from the Speakeasy. I love your blog, and I commend your decision to wait another year before going to grad school. I thought about that too, but in the end, I’m just way too antsy; patience has never been my forte. Best of luck to you. Keep writing!
